Waste Management Concerns

Pine City is hosting a meeting to address local concern with its waste hauler.

Waste Management collects garbage in Pine City, and of late has been the target of mass criticism, especially on social media.

The criticisms include collection not showing up on the correct day they were scheduled and neglecting for weeks to collect waste.

Other surrounding communities have reported issues with the company as well, including in Kanabec and Isanti counties.

Pine City has invited the community to make its voice heard on July 5th at 6:30 at City Hall.

Fatal ATV Accident

A fatal ATV accident took place in Finlayson early Saturday morning.

The male driver was pronounced dead on the scene, while the female passenger was airlifted to a Twin Cities hospital.

Witness statements indicate that alcohol and the speed of the machine as factors in the crash.

At this time, names are not being released to the public.

Donkeys Neglected

Five neglected Donkeys have been rescued from a Pine County property.

The Minnesota Hooved Animal Rescue foundation rescued the donkeys who were suffering from overgrown hooves and lice.

The donkeys are now safe and receiving treatment at a clinic in Anoka.

Two more donkeys reside at the property but resisted capture and the foundation plans to go back for them.

New Building in Pine County Fairgrounds

The Pine County fairgrounds recently added a new feature.

A new structure called the Pine County Agriculture Building is almost complete.

The brand new Pine County Agriculture building will be able to be used for a variety of events including weddings, and will be open for the Pine County fair.
