Pine County on Pace for Lower Crime Rate in 2017

During Pine County’s release of the proposed 2018 budget late last week, other details were made public as well including the Sheriff’s Department’s operations.

The number of calls made into the office over the last three years has remained fairly steady, hovering between 23-25 thousand calls per year.

However, the crime rate per 1,000 people has dropped year by year since 2015, on pace to finish a few hundred lower than last year.

When it comes to the number of reported crimes, the projected numbers through the end of the year will likely see more of the same since 2015- about 2,000.
