16th Annual Pine County Horticulture Day Held This Weekend


Spring (which we sometimes forget exists in Minnesota) is upon us, and those with a green thumb have a great opportunity to indulge this weekend.

The 16th Annual Pine County Horticulture Day is being held this Saturday, March 24th in Pine City. For just $25, attendees will receive educational sessions, lunch, handouts, door prizes, and more.

A keynote presentation will also take place by Lee Frelich, Researcher and Director of the University of Minnesota Center for Forest Ecology and Institute of the Environment. Frelich will present on the topic of "Minnesota Forests are Changing with the Climate".

  • “Beyond Basics: How to Get the Most from Your Perennial Garden” by Kate Netwal and Susan Thompson, U of M Extension Master Gardeners, Hennepin County

  • “Pruning Trees and Shrubs” by Donna Tatting, U of M Extension Master Gardener, Chisago County

  • “Growing Blueberries in East Central Minnesota” by Diane Patras, U of M Extension Master Gardener, Chisago County Master Gardener

  • “Jam Making” Ben Wiener, U of M Extension Master Gardener, Pine County
