In an attempt to increase the safety of students in schools, Braham is currently in talks to place law enforcement personnel in its schools.
A community and police forum is being held tonight at the Braham Event Center from 7 to 9 PM to discuss the possibility of stationing officers inside Braham Schools to increase security and safety. Citizens will hear from Braham Police Chief Eric Baumgart and will be allowed to ask questions as well.
Baumgart posted on Facebook that in the wake of the school shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland Florida and countless others that have occurred across the country, Braham would need extra safety precautions as well. Chief Baumgart announced that he's currently in negotiations with local leaders and school officials to put law enforcement personnel in Braham Area Schools.
"Our intention is to provide a safer environment for our students and the school staff," said Baumgart in the post.
As of now it's unclear in what capacity the law enforcement officer or officers placed in the schools would serve or when they would start, but more information will be available following tonight's meeting both here on wcmpradio.com and on the air (100.9/106.5/1350).
