In a shocking move Monday afternoon, the Board of School Administrators (BOSA) denied William Campbell's request for variance in the state of Minnesota to become the next Rush City Schools Superintendent.
Campbell's last position held was in the state of Georgia, and needed variance in Minnesota as well. After weeks of silence from BOSA, the determination was handed down today that Campbell would not receive variance in Minnesota. Without variance, the district is unable to hire a superintendent.
"Although we are very sorry for our district, our community, and especially for Mr. Campbell and his family, the board will continue with this important search", said Rush City School Board Chair Stefanie Folkema. "The school board will convene this week to discuss the next steps in the superintendent search process."
The district will need to act somewhat quickly, as Campbell was set to begin July 1st and current superintendent Theresa Dupre is retiring.
