Infamous Pine City Criminal Sentenced in First of Multiple Trials

Daniel Appel

An infamous Pine County criminal was sentenced last week in the first of multiple cases against him.

Steven Nelson of Pine City was handed 57 months in prison on burglary and bribery charges. The burglary occurred on Sunnyside Road in Pine City in December of 2016 when Nelson was arrested in possession of a counterfeit sheriff’s deputy badge and more.

During that arrest Nelson attempted to bribe the officers and even tried to escape before falling in the snow. Nelson’s time in court is far from over as he’s headed back for four more cases against him involving arson, animal cruelty, stealing the Pine County Chief Deputy's squad car, fleeing the courtroom during a trial, and more.

More about Nelson's crimes and the Sunnyside Road Burglary can be found here.
