Bluejacket Soccer Returns Good Group of Seniors

2019 Cambridge-Isanti Boys Soccer Preview with head coach Joe Kassa

What are you most excited for this year?

The team has put in a lot of work over the summer, and we have a lot of returning players, so I’m most excited to see all the hard work payoff and for the team to have a successful season.

What will be your biggest challenge?

Our biggest challenge will be the size of our teams. We have a smaller number of players this year, so there isn't a lot of room for injuries. Some players may have to potentially put in some time both at JV and Varsity depending on player availability

How is the roster shaping up? Do you have a lot of new players? Are you returning a lot of players? Younger? Older? Etc.

Our roster is looking very similar to last season, but a year older. We have a large number of returning players as well as a handful of incoming freshmen. Contrary to the past couple years, now we are a bit of an older squad with primarily Juniors and Seniors that have played together for a few years.

Who are a couple athletes that will stand out?

We have a group of Seniors that have played together for several years both at the high school level, and club level. They will be key for us this coming year. - Jonah Brady (Defense) - Nate Larson (Midfield) - Reece Valland (Defense) - Tahtan Kassa (Goalie/Midfield)

What are your goals for the season?

We always have a goal of having a better result than the year prior. We also are looking to finish in the upper half of the conference, and potentially a home game in Sections.

Favorite upcoming games, matches, or meets?

The team always looks forward to playing North Branch and Princeton. Both are always close games and tends to bring out the best of us.
