Authorities investigate bomb threat at Pine City High School

Law enforcement investigated a bomb threat at the Pine City High School on Thursday.

According to a joint statement from Pine City Public Schools and the Pine County Sheriff's Office, a student was overheard making a statement that they were in possession of a bomb while walking to a school assembly in the gym.

Upon being notified, the school district administration immediately contacted the Pine County Sheriff's Office. The St. Paul Police Department, bomb squad, and K9 unit were also called in to assist.

Authorities determined there is no credibility to the threat and issued an all-clear for the district after a comprehensive sweep.

After-school activities were canceled at Pine City High School on Thursday evening.

According to the statement, all students are accounted for and safe, and action was taken out of an abundance of caution.

All Pre-K through 12th grade classes will resume as normal on Friday.

A 16-year-old male was identified as the suspect and was taken into custody, pending formal charges.
