Trial for Former Burnett Co. ADA set for January of 2022

The criminal trial for former Burnett County Assistant District Attorney Daniel Steffen has been set for January of next year.

Steffen is facing three felony Capture Intimate Representation charges for allegedly recording himself engaging in sexual activity with two women without their knowledge in his Polk County home.

The investigation began in early 2020 after the Wis. DOJ received information that he had allegedly had sexual relations with one of the victims in exchange for leniency in criminal cases she had pending in Burnett County.

Steffen’s jury trial is set to take place from January 24 through the 28 of 2022.

The maximum sentence for each charge is not more than 3 years and 6 months and/or a $10,000 fine.
