Potential Flooding on its way from the Snake River

After recent heavy rainfall in parts of Pine County, some roads are underwater, and further flooding could be on its way.

The Snake River is expected to see significantly higher water levels through today and Saturday.

Anyone living along the Snake River should keep an eye on their docks and boats, as there have already been reports of jet skis on Pokegama Lake that floated off their docks.

Earlier in the week Co Rd 35 or Finlayson Road, was reported to be underwater, as well as military road in Windemere Township, where the bridge deck is underwater.

The Sheriff’s Department is encouraging drivers to proceed through these areas with caution, and to report any further affected roadways or bridges.

Cooler fall weather has crept into East Central Minnesota as of late, and has prepped the region for peak fall colors.

According to the Department of Natural Resources, this weekend and early into next week should see peak fall colors in East Central Minnesota.

The northern parts of Pine County near Moose Lake will peak as early as Saturday, while the southern sections should hit their prime early next week.

You can see the colors at some of the local state parks, such as St. Croix in Hinckley, Banning, or Moose Lake State Parks.

Askov is the latest site of a bill theft following a break in at the Sandstone post office box earlier this week.

During the early morning hours yesterday, the bill pay drop off box in Askov was opened and its contents stolen.

According to the City of Askov, anyone who placed a bill in the box on October 4th should contact their bank regarding the issue.

On Monday afternoon the city bill pay and post office drop boxes were broken into in Sandstone as well.
