North Branch hosted Chisago Lakes on Thursday night for a double header.
The boys teams would take the court first. The Vikings came in having yet to win a game, but an offense that was high flying. The Wildcats had already won a game on the year, and while their offense didn't average as monat point, their defense was allowing less than the Vikings.
North Branch got off to a really good start and lead by double digits early. But the Wildcats were able to find a way out of the hole and tie the game. Now it took awhile but the Wildcats lead for the first time with 6 minutes left in the 1st. It didn't last long as the Vikings quickly retook the lead, and the teams swapped the lead. But just before the half Chisago Lakes took a 32-31 lead.
The Wildcats kept hold of the 1st half lead in the 2nd and never surrendered it. The Vikings got on a few runs, but couldn't overcome the deficit and Chisago went on to win 67-53.

Now for the girls game, Chisago Lakes was young last year with alot of inexperience and return this year with most of the players back. For North Branch, they're a younger team with not alot of varsity playing time.
The Wildcats took the lead and quickly built on it, their defense was suffocating the Vikings offense, and the Wildcat offense was moving the ball well creating open shots. As the 1st half wore along, the Vikings confidence began to grow. They played smoother, made smarter plays and defensively slowed the Wildcats down. Still the Wildcats held a 43-17 lead at half, but the Vikings had brought some momentum on their side.
The 2nd half was all Wildcats, holding the Vikings to 7 points and created a plethora of turnovers. They extended their lead and went on to win 75-24.
