Pine City hosted Hinckley-Finlayson on Thursday night. Both teams looked to get back into the win column. The Jags got on the board first with a couple trips to the free throw line. Pine City then turned things around going on a 17-0 run. Their offense was able to set the pace of the game during that run, their defense also helped with some turnovers which were turned into points.

Pine City hosted Braham on Tuesday night. Both teams got off to a decent start, but Pine City was able to match the pace that the Bombers set. This allowed the Dragons to keep the game close. You could sense Pine City had found some belief in their team, understanding they could stick with any team they faced. It was a back and forth battle, but turnovers started to pile up for Pine City, which Braham was able to capitalize on.

The Lady Dragons hosted Cloquet on Tuesday night. The Dragons played their third team in Class AAA or higher with the matchup. They were looking to get back over .500 on the season and head into Christmas break on a high note. It wasn't the best of starts for either team, fouls piled up early on for Cloquet. Both defenses played hard and made it difficult to find any decent shots.

The Pine City Boys hosted Milaca on Monday night. Both teams came in searching for the first section win of the season. The Wolves came out and set the pace early on, offensively they moved the ball around and shot quick, defensively it was full court press trying to force Pine City to break it. The Wolves were out to an early 9-0 lead. But the Dragons were able to correct things on the fly.

Pine City hosted Foley on Tuesday night. These two teams played last year in Foley and what a game that was. This time the game happens alittle earlier in the season in Pine City. Foley came in as the #1 team in the section, and Pine City was also in the top 5.

The Lady Dragons hosted Hastings on Friday night. The Raiders weren't just some random team making the trip to Pine City, Dragons HC Padrick Judd used to coach there. While there were some connections, Pine City knew they had business to take care of. As the game began it was clear the time off for both teams brought some new energy. Despite the energy neither team got off to a particularly great start, but credit should be given to the defenses in this game.

Pine City girls hosted Aitkin on Saturday. The girls basketball team had a busy end to their week, on Friday they played in the cities against St Croix Prep, then had to turn around and play again Saturday afternoon. Some fatigue was sure to play a factor in this midday game, especially this early in the season. But Pine City did not let that hold them back, despite the slow start. Vivian Lahti got them on the board first with a three.

The Dragons boys basketball team hosted Ogilvie on Tuesday night. Pine City came into the night after a loss the previous night vs Zimmerman, the Lions came in fresh, as this was their first game of the season.

The Dragons traveled to Zimmerman on Monday night. Pine City comes into the season as a younger squad, with a mix of experience. Early on against the Thunder, they were moving the ball well and even held a 5-1 lead. But the speed, height and experience of Zimmerman soon took over.

Head Coach Unverzagt tells us how the teams season officially ended. We wrapped up our tennis season celebrating our JV and Varsity seasons at our team banquet tonight.  The girls had a lot to celebrate at all levels.  We had a strong and competitive JV season with 24 tie break matches played!  Our varsity had a lot to celebrate as the section and conference champions.  They also earned all state academic gold as a team and conference academic champions with a team GPA of

Pine City Head Coach Kristin Unverzagt updates us on the final matches of the season. The girls tennis season is officially wrapped up!

Pine City hosted Mora on Tuesday night. For the 2nd time in nearly as many weeks, the Dragons and Mustangs would hit the field for their rivalry game. The last time out, Pine City was able to get the shutout win at home. But this time, there was more on the line than just pride, the winner would move on to the section semi finals on Saturday.

Dragons Girls Tennis Head Coach Kristin Unverzagt updates on how the individuals have done at the sections.

Kristin Unverzagt, the Lady Dragons HC gives us the update on the teams playoff journey! The Dragon tennis team is state bound after capturing the section 7A title this afternoon.  We had a tough battle with Pierz to earn this win and it was so much fun to watch! 

Pine City Girls Tennis Head Coach Kristin Unverzagt updates us on the teams playoff run! The Dragons hosted Mora in a great semi-final match.  Mora came to play, and it was a fun match for the team.  Our singles players utilized their strengths to set up the points.  Some of our closest matches were in doubles.

Pine City hosted Mora on Friday night. The Mustangs came in with one win on the season, while Pine City was still searching for their first. The Dragons came in with many believing, including themselves, they could and probably should be a least a 4-1 squad. Mora while only one win so far, certainly showed they were taking the right steps in their growth as a team.

Dragons HC Kristin Unverzagt with the update. The Dragons wrapped up our conference season with a strong 5-2 win over Crosby-Ironton.  Our doubles showed their strength with their net play to capitalize on the points.  Our singles battled hard and did a great job attacking the net and creating opportunities.  The girls continue to improve each time we play. 

Pine City's HC Unverzagt tells about their match in Aitkin. Pine City had another strong showing in Aitkin but it was a bigger victory than the scoreboard.  Aitkin hosted a fundraiser match for a teacher and former Aitkin tennis player that is currently paralyzed due to an accident a few weeks ago.
