East Central traveled to Mora on Monday night.
Both teams have a lot of youth on their squads but the youth is very talented and continues to improve as the season goes along.
As the game began the Mustangs took control early, being able to set the pace offensively and creating turnovers early. They were dominate in the 1st half taking the ball away 11 times on steals alone. Their offense shot really well and the defense very seldomly allowed second chance scoring opportunities. It seemed it was going to be a lopsided game, but late in the 1st half East Central found something they could work with. They started to up the ante on the pace, moving the ball quicker which opened up things for their offense. Soon the Eagles had cut the deficit to under 20 and they swung some momentum in their favor after their 9-0 scoring run. But just as the Eagles looked bound to complete a comeback, Mora finished the half on a 6-2 run taking a 36-16 lead into half.
Mora once again got out to a fast start in the 2nd half and immediately put the Eagles on their heels. East Central showed great resiliency and despite the Mustangs lead growing, they once again were able to go on a scoring run. And now the were only down by 16, while still a good chunk they were chipping away at the lead. But the Mustangs turned up the heat defensively and created turnovers and turned many of them into points. Their lead had grown to nearly 30 as the half wore along and both teams were getting their bench players some good minutes on the court. Mora came away with the win 69-45.
