Girls Basketball Playoff Outlook

The Playoffs are upon us!

Let's take a look at how each team finished and where they'll play in the 1st round of the playoffs!

Class A

Section 5A East

Braham 20-6(11-0), 1st in section

The Bombers have their heads down looking to get back to the section championship. They scheduled maybe one of the toughest seasons but it all paid off. They'll host Hinckley-Finlayson on Thursday.

Ogilvie 12-13(8-5), 5th in Section

The Lions have a younger team this year but have two very good Seniors. That leadership has helped them grow. They'll travel to Upsala on Thursday for a rematch of their regular season finale.

East Central 10-15(3-5), 6th in Section

The Eagles are an interesting team, a talented team. Their record doesn't show how good they are, and they have a chance for an upset. They'll be at Swanville on Thursday.

Mille Lacs 7-19(3-9) 7th in Section

The Raiders have some talent and played every team tough. They'll play at Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa on Thursday.

Hinckley-Finlayson 4-21(1-8) 8th in Section

The Jags have some inexperience but they also had alot of growth over the season. Don't let their record fool you, they nearly beat Barnum who's a top 35 team in the state. It's an uphill battle but they'll no doubt give Braham a run for their money.

Class AA

Section 6

Milaca 21-4(10-2) 1st in Section

The Wolves have been one of the hottest teams in the state in this late season, winning their final 11 games. They jumped Foley for the #1 seed and will host Maple Lake on Thursday, as they look to get back to the section championship.

Foley 21-5(11-2) 2nd in Section

The Falcons were the top team in the section from the start of the season. While they'll use not getting the 1 seed as motivation for sure, they are plenty talented to make a deep run. They'll host Spectrum on Thursday.

Pine City 15-11(3-4) 5th in Section

Pine City is a team to look out for. A bit of an up and down start to the season, but once they put it all together they have been on fire. This is no doubt a team who can make a deep run in the playoffs. They'll host Melrose on Thursday.

Mora 16-10(2-5) 10th in Section

The Mustangs seeding is an interesting one. They were one of the better teams in the section all year, but will still be a road team. They do have to travel to Albany on Thursday, but it's a good matchup.

Class AAA

Section 5

Princeton 11-15(3-6) 5th in Section

The Tigers have really been in every single one of their game this year. There hasn't been many if any game they've played that they couldn't have won. They will play at Zimmerman on Wednesday, but don't be surprised if they pull off a couple big wins.

Section 7

Chisago Lakes 7-19(3-3) 5th in Section

The Wildcats were a young team last year and everyone came back for this season. And while a few close losses kept them out of a better seeding, this team is still one that can make some noise in the playoffs. They'll play at Duluth Denfeld on Wednesday.

North Branch 0-25(0-8) 8th in Section

The Vikings were inexperienced this year and it was the first under a new head coach. Alot of variables but they still have talent, and gain valuable experience. While playing the #1 seeded Rock Ridge will be tough, who's to say David can't take down Goliath.

Class AAAA

Cambridge-Isanti 4-22(0-4) 8th in Section

The Jackets are another young team with inexperience. But you could see the growth every time they stepped on the court. They'll play at Forest Lake on Wednesday.
