Jaguars Split Season Series with Pine City

Pine City hosted Hinckley-Finlayson on Tuesday night.

The last time these teams met was in Hinckley, with Pine City coming away with a double digit win. So this time the Jags were looking for some revenge on the road.

The Jags scored the first 5 points of the game but it didn't take too long after that, the Dragons were able to score 5 straight to tie the game. It looked like we were in for a back and forth game. Then suddenly, the Jags were able to turn the tides in their favor. They slowly but surely pulled away and eventually had built themselves a double digit lead. The Dragons offense just couldn't seem to get into rhythm which forced them to spend alot of time on defense. H-F was able to pressure the Dragons into turning the ball over, which allowed the Jags to capture even more momentum. As the half was coming to a close H-F still held the lead, but Pine City was finally able to break through and finished the half on a 7-2 run, trailing 28-21.

In the 2nd half, both teams were able to get off to a good start and neither team could extend a lead more than 5 points. The entire 2nd half was neck and neck, and when one team scored a big bucket and swung momentum, the other would come back and do the same to even it back up. The Jags held the lead but there were plenty of time Pine City had a chance to take the lead, but the Jags defense made the stops they needed. This continued for the rest of the half and H-F was able to hold off the Dragons comeback attempts to win the game 58-52.
