Lady Dragons Finish Off Busy Week with a Win

Pine City hosted Esko on Saturday afternoon.

The Dragons had a tough loss to start their week of play against Milaca, but won on Friday over Mille Lacs. Now they got their opportunity to end the win with 2 wins and get back over .500 on the season.

Early on both teams struggled alittle bit to get started, of course playing on a Saturday can sometimes do that. But the Dragons seemed to be alittle out of place and were playing a tad too fast. But the scoring chances were certainly there and on defense they got themselves out of place which allowed Esko to score easily. Pine City was able to do enough to take a lead and keep the lead at halftime, despite and strong finish by Esko. The Dragons went into half leading 29-25.

The 2nd half was a much different story, the Dragons made their corrections and they were able to play freely. They moved the ball well on offense which opened up a plethora of shots all around the floor. Defensively, they allowed 26 points the entire half and only gave up 2 three point buckets. Pine City played a really cohesive half and never had to worry about giving up their lead. They were able to put an end to the long week with a win 68-51.

They moved to 8-7 on the season and will start the new week at East Central.
