Pine City hosted Spectrum on Tuesday night.
Pine City came into the final week of the regular season in position to lock themselves into a home playoff game. They first needed a win over another section opponent in Spectrum. There was also alittle bit of revenge that the Dragons were seeking, after the Sting beat them last year.
Pine City scored first and then shortly after on a free throw, Senior Mallory Clepper, hit her 1,000th career point! Of course she received her well deserved recognition, then it was back to play. But the Dragons struggled to get into rhythm and the Sting were starting to cut away at the deficit. This went on for a chunk of time before the Dragons were able to get themselves back into the flow of things. They were able to hit some big three's to help them finish the half on a 18-6 run, taking the lead into halftime 37-15.
Pine City wasted no time getting into rhythm in the 2nd half, as they continued their dominance. Three, three and more three's was kind of the theme of the 2nd half, and it wasn't just Pine City hitting them, Spectrum also hit some impressive shots from beyond the arc. But the Dragons were able to build up an insurmountable lead and were able to get the younger JV players in for some valuable minutes. The Dragons were able to come away with a big win 81-47.
With that win they secure themselves a home playoff game, it is now a waiting game to see what seed they will be for the playoffs.
