Lady Dragons Take Down Barnum at Home

Pine City hosted Barnum on Monday night.

After nearly a week between games Pine City was finally able to get back out on the court. The Dragons came in riding a three game win streak and look to start the new week off right.

Both teams got off to a bit of a sluggish start, but having a whirlwind of a week where games get postponed and school gets canceled can certainly do that. But eventually the teams knocked off the rust and got into a rhythm. The Dragons were out to an early lead, but Barnum was able to quickly turn around and tie the game. After the Bombers tied the game, Pine City called what would prove to be a key timeout. After the timeout the Dragons went off, and they did it from every aspect of the game. Offense was scoring quick and in a hurry. The defense slammed any chance of scoring and also created turnovers, which allowed them to get out in transition and score. In all this chaos they had gone on a 21-2 scoring run with only a minute left in the half. It was safe to say they had any and all momentum. But just before the half, Barnum would put a halt to said momentum. The Bombers forced two turnovers which they scored off of and ended the half on a 4-0 run, while it may not seem like alot they were hoping it was enough to slow the Dragons down in the 2nd half.

Pine City was up 34-19 top begin the 2nd half, and it didn't take long for them to pick up right where they left off. Once again they were able to fire on all cylinders and everybody on the floor did their job very well. With only 9 minutes left in the game, the Dragons lead was nearly 30. While Barnum still fought to the very end it was too much to overcome and the Dragons would go on to win 64-42.

The Dragons move to 10-7 on the season and seem to be hitting their stride as of late.
