Tigers Defeat Bombers in Conference Showdown

Rush City traveled to Braham on Tuesday night.

The Bombers came into the game looking for their first conference win of the season. While the Tigers were looking to remain unbeaten.

The Bombers were able to get on the board first in the opening set. It wasn't long before the Tigers answered back. The first set was close and neither side could pull away from the other by more than 2 points. Braham was able to hang on to the lead for a good chunk of the set, but late the Tigers grabbed their first lead. The Bombers didn't seem phased by the Tigers grabbing the lead late and were able to tie the game. The Tigers though were able to hang onto momentum from taking the lead and would go on to win the set 25-21.

Once again the Bombers scored first in the 2nd set. They would jump out to a 3-0 lead before the Tigers were able to get on the board. While the Tigers were able to tie the game, the Bombers refused to surrender the lead. The Bombers were in full control of the set and looked to be pulling away. But again late the Tigers not only tied the game but also took their first lead of the 2nd. This didn't last long as Braham quickly took it back. But Rush City was determined and retook the lead and never looked back, winning the set 25-20.

Braham was able to brush off both of the Tigers comebacks and start the 3rd set even stronger. They were able to grow either teams largest lead of the match which was 5, and it looked like Braham could do no wrong. While it never felt like Rush was out of it, it did feel like momentum was going to stay with one team. But much like the first two sets, the Tigers made a late surge and went on a 9-1 scoring to not only win the set 25-19, but also the match 3-0.

The Tigers remain unbeaten and will host another conference opponent in Aitkin on Thursday.

The Bombers inexperience showed, but this team will grow and will be better as the season goes along!

Our two Pine Insurance Players of the Game were, Rush City's Abby Telander and Braham's ZoeAnn Claseman!
