From the Pine County Sheriff's Office:
"PRESS RELEASE
SHOOTING-ROCK CREEK
AUGUST 31, 2017
Just before 4:00 PM on August 30th, Pine County 911 received a report of shots fired at the Rock Creek Pit Stop on Highway 70, just east of I-35. The caller reported two vehicles at the gas pumps, one occupant had shot at another and then both vehicles had fled the area, possibly to the freeway.
Deputies responded to the area and were unable to locate the two described vehicles, a red pickup and a Jeep. Video surveillance at the gas station was reviewed and showed both described vehicles at the gas pumps. The driver of the red truck exits his vehicle, approaches the Jeep and attempts to pull the driver out. The Jeep then speeds off and the driver of the red truck can be seen firing off a single shot from a handgun. Witnesses at the scene were able to provide a partial license plate on the truck.
Deputies later located the red pickup at an address in Rock Creek. The owner of the truck when questioned admitted his involvement in the incident and claimed to be working with a task force to arrest the driver of the Jeep who had warrants for his arrest. The suspect driver of the truck was arrested and booked at the Pine County jail pending formal charges. The suspect was not a law enforcement officer."
