A man escapes with his life after going through the ice.
Pine County dispatch received a call just before 2 p.m. on December 13 about a man standing on top of an ATV that had gone through the ice on Cross Lake near Pine City.
He had gone through where the Snake River empties into the lake and was sitting about 30 yards from shore.
When deputies arrived, they tossed the man a rope and he was able to walk to shore. The ATV was retrieved two hours later.
No injuries were reported from the incident.
