MLWR Takes Mora to Overtime on Homecoming Night


Mora played their homecoming game last Friday night, they battled the MLWR Rebels in a back and forth tilt.

Each team scored twice in the first half with one touchdown coming in each quarter. Brady Watrin opened up the scoring on a 10 yard receiving touchdown giving his team the lead 6-0 in the first. Mora would return the ensuing kickoff 80 yards to tie up the game before, Andrew Rasmusson caught a 38 yard touchdown to put the Mustangs on top 14-6. But MLWR would score right before half to tie the game at 14 a piece. Both teams scored only once in the third quarter; Carter Johnson on a 30 yard receiving touchdown for the Rebels, then Nick Nelson on 2 yard rushing score for Mora tied it at 22 ending the third quarter. The Rebels scored on another passing touchdown before Ben Wright scored on a 12 yard rushing touchdown to tie the game at 30. MLWR took the lead late with an Eli Werner receiving touchdown. With less than thirty seconds left in the game Nick Nelson would score on a one yard rush to tie the game at 36. The game headed into overtime. Mora would not score on their possession, but the Rebels would on a fourth down score to win the game 42-36 over Mora.

Mora drops its first game of the year giving them a 5-1 record. Mora will travel to Pine City this Friday to take on the 2-3 Dragons. Kickoff will be at 7pm. MLWR improves to 5-1 on the season. The Rebels travel to face off against the 4-2 Crosby-Ironton Rangers on Friday.
