From the Lakes Area Police Department:
On 09-15-20 shortly before 10 PM, Lakes Area Officers responded to a residence on a report of a domestic assault in progress in the 29300 block of Main St. The suspect was reported to have punched his former girlfriend in the face, stolen her car keys from her purse, and was attempting to steal her car.
Just prior to a Lakes Area Officer arriving on scene, the suspect fled the scene on foot, dropping the car keys behind. Officers and Deputies from the Wyoming Police Department and Chisago County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene to assist in locating the suspect.
A Chisago County Deputy deployed a K9 and initiated a track from the last known location of the suspect. The K9 team tracked the suspect’s scent across two blocks of pavement and concrete, located the suspect, and ultimately apprehended him.
51-year-old Lee Wegener of St Cloud was booked into the Chisago County Jail for Domestic Assault and Robbery.
