Arrowhead Transit to launch redesigned services for Chisago, Isanti counties in June

Arrowhead Transit is set to launch its redesigned service for Chisago and Isanti counties as part of its RideSmart 2025 project.

The new routes, maps, and schedules will go into effect on Monday, June 2.

The redesign initiative includes more than 12 new and redesigned routes, weekend service options, and expanded dial-a-ride boundaries for Cambridge and North Branch to accommodate newer and underserved housing areas.

According to a news release, Arrowhead Transit assumed operations in both counties in March of 2021, and has seen ridership grow by more than 30% since then.

“This was more than a route update—it was a complete reinvention of how public transit

operates in these counties,” said Sandra Wheelecor, assistant director of operations,

in the release. “From new technology integrations to intuitive maps and clearly marked schedules, every element of this launch is designed to make rural public transportation easier to use, more accessible, and better aligned with community needs.”

Arrowhead will host a launch event for the redesigned service at 10 a.m. on June 2, located at the transit service’s Cambridge office.

“Our new maps and route visuals were intentionally designed to make sense for rural riders — many of whom are navigating without apps or advanced trip planners,” said communications manager Dominick Olivanti in the release. “This redesign puts local knowledge and rider experience at the center.”
