Barron Co. Sheriff Releases Names of Officer's Involved in the Fatal Shooting of an Eau Claire Man

The Barron County Sheriff’s Office has released the names of the police officers involved in the shooting of a man at a St. Croix Falls motel.


On August 8th, St. Croix Falls Police were called to the Dalles House Motel with the report of a woman in distress. Law enforcement says that Officers Micah Lebrun and Patrick Mariakis responded to the scene and were met by a 45-year-old Eau Claire man who was reported to have a knife.


According to an updated press release from the Barron County Sheriff’s Office, Officer Mariakis shot and killed the man after he failed to drop the knife and came toward the officers.


The female victim was reported to have been found with several stabs wounds to her neck, chest, and hands. She was rushed to a St. Croix Regional Medical Center then airlifted to Regions Hospital in St. Paul. She is continuing to recover from this incident.


The Dryden Wire reports that The case is being handed over to the Polk County District Attorney’s office for review.
