Pine City Tennis Update from Kristin Unverzagt

Dragons tennis Head Coach Kristin Unverzagt gives us an update from Friday's match.

The Dragons had an awesome battle with Elk River and I am so proud of the girls for their tough play. While the individual set scores do not reflect how close this match was, we had so many games with deuce points and we battled hard until the end. Our first doubles won a game after 18 deuce points! That describes how close this match was and what a great opportunity it was for our girls. We had tie breakers at multiple positions and the girls battled splitting games on switchovers. While a 7-0 loss is hard, the girls knew this was a great learning opportunity, came to battle, and played some of their best tennis of the season. Matches like tonight will help us as we move into post season play.

Coach Unverzagt also talks about the Foley conference tournament which didn't get to finish on Saturday.

The girls had a strong start to the day with all positions winning in the first round. However, the rain moved in and did not allow us to finish the tournament. We were able to have an opportunity to receive the conference trophy as a team and also learned that we earned conference academic champions.

The girls came out very strong and ready to play. We are excited to host Crosby Ironton for last regular season match on Monday at 4:00.
