Dragons Comeback Against Proctor Comes up Short

Pine City hosted the Proctor Rails last night.

The first set was a decisive win for the Rails. They came out and dominated with 25-12 score. The 2nd set was a different story. You could almost feel the Dragons gain momentum, as they came out strong and held their first lead of the match early on. Proctor would eventually tie the set, but from there on it was an even set. Pine City would score a point or two then the Rails would come back and do the same. This is the way much of the 2nd set went, but towards the end Proctor slowly pulled away and won set two 25-19. The 3rd set saw the Dragons take complete control. They started by taking the lead at first, but the Rails would tie it up shortly after. Like the 2nd set, this set was back and forth, that is until the Dragons Kloey Lind destroyed the ball and put her team in front. From that point on it was all Pine City. They would win set three 25-19, but the final of that set doesn't tell you how dominate the Dragons were. From blocking the shots on the front line, to the strong kills from nearly every spot on the floor as well as the serves, it was as if they could do no wrong. The fourth set started with Pine City taking an early lead. Proctor was able to work their way back and soon took over the lead. But that wouldn't last long as Pine City stole it right back. This set was by far the closest and most competitive. Neither team held more than a one point lead and every other point seemed to tie the set. Late in the set Proctor would grab a couple of strong points and take a 24-22 lead at match point. The Dragons climbed back and scored two straight points to tie the game. But Proctor would take a one point advantage with match point again, this time they were able to capitalize. The Rails claimed the 4th set 26-24 and the match 3-1.

Despite the loss Pine City showed a lot of heart and many positive things to look forward to in their next match. They will travel to Hinckley to take on the Jaguars on Thursday.
