Dragons Fall to Proctor on Homecoming

Pine City hosted Proctor for homecoming last Friday.

The Dragons started off the game with the ball. Despite a good return to set them up in good field position, the first drive left much to be desired. The Rails offense was able to move the ball early and often getting on the board first to take a 8-0 in the first quarter.

Pine City's offense couldn't get into any bit of rhythm and were forced to play the field position game but punting the ball away. But Proctor was able to take a 16-0 lead early in the 2nd quarter, capitalizing off the Dragons slow start. It seemed like the air had been sucked out of the Pine City sideline, but that was sure to change. Only a few short minutes into the 2nd quarter, the Dragons started to put a drive together. A drive that started at their own 38, thanks to an impressive return by Braxton Peetz. It only took the Dragons 3 minutes to march downfield and put their first points on the board from a Jace Preston rushing touchdown. They would fail the 2 point conversion but were back in the game down 16-6. On the next Proctor drive, Pine City would create a turnover on the first play! The momentum had officially swung in Pine City's favor. They started in Proctor territory and thrust into the endzone a couple plays later from a bulldozing Logan Kolecki. The would go into half trailing 16-12, but feeling good about there situation.

Both defenses stepped up in a big way in the 3rd quarter not giving an inch and keeping each other off the board. Unfortunately, the Rails found a way through in the 4th scoring twice taking a 32-12 lead. Pine City couldn't quite seem to get anything they wanted to pop and the offense was shutout in the second half. The Dragons fell on homecoming 32-12.

With the loss Pine City will continue to search for their first win on the season. They travel up to Two Harbors to battle the Agates next Friday.
