Pine City hosted conference foe East Central last night.
It took some time for each team to get things rolling in the game. Seven minutes into the first half the Dragons held an 11-2 lead. The Eagles had done a good job of making sure they didn't let the game get away from them early on. Holding a high scoring offense in check is a win in it of itself. As the 1st half crept towards the halfway mark Pine City's offense found a groove. With 4 minutes left the Dragons held a 32-11 lead over East Central. The Dragons went on an 11-0 run to end the half, and lead 43-11. The 2nd half started alittle slow once again for both teams, but Pine City kept slowly building on their lead. As the last half flowed, the Dragons were able to substitute more players to give them playing time and experience. With 8 minutes left the Eagles defense suffocated Pine City's offense, holding them to 6 points in the final minutes. Pine City would go on to win 66-22 and grab their first conference win.
Pine City moves to 2-1 on the season and will host Pierz next Tuesday. East Central falls to 1-4 on the year and will have some time off before their next game. They'll travel to Swanville on Dec. 20th.
