Lady Dragons tennis Head Coach Kristin Unverzagt tells us about the impressive outing against Foley.
The girls tennis team played one of their strongest matches of the season against a strong Foley team! We traveled to Foley and came home with a 7-0 victory!
Our first three points came off quick with a strong showing at 2nd singles (Allison Unverzagt), 2nd doubles (Lexa Valvoda/Alana Linnell), and 4th singles (Lily Struss). Our final four points were a battle and the girls stepped up to close out. Both 1st singles (Brooke Boland) and 1st doubles (Malia Mikyska/Brenna Youngbauer) fell in the first set but came strong to win the second and third sets. 3rd singles (Lena Roubinek) played steady and strong in a tight match to win a close first set and dominated to close out the second set. Third doubles (Vivian Lahti/Kate Unverzagt) played strongly, winning a tiebreaker for both sets. This was a huge match for our team to test our mental stamina and ability to close out. I am so proud of the girls as they continue to improve and play stronger each match. They are such a fun team to watch and their determination is contagious. This decisive win, with three matches left in our conference play, brings such great momentum to wrap up our season.
We will host Mora at Pine City High School at 4:30 on Thursday, September 21. The JV will travel to Mora.
