Dragons Win Over Rival Tigers

The Pine City boys basketball team hosted rival Rush City last night.

Rush City put themselves on the board first. But after the Tigers scored it became a back and forth match. Pine City tied it at 6 before grabbing the lead. The Dragons kept building on their lead, but Rush City never let the game get out of reach. The Dragons couldn’t build more than a 10 point lead, thanks to the Tigers tough defense. Rush City closed the gap before the half ended with them only trailing by 5, 37-32. Pine City came out firing on all cylinders, hitting two 3 pointers within 30 seconds of the start of the second half. The Tigers called a much needed timeout, as after the timeout they came storming back making it a one point game. The second half continued on much like the first, fast paced and shots falling from everywhere. Pine City held the lead throughout the second half but never managed to extend their lead over 9 points. In the end, the time of possession battle was won by the Dragons which ultimately lead to them winning, 75-67.

With the win, Pine City moves to 14-1 and will host Ogilvie this Friday, in their last conference matchup of the season. The Tigers fall to 4-7, and will travel to Hinckley on Friday to play the Jaguars.
