Expansion projects continue at Pine Technical and Community College

A $24 million expansion project got underway on Tuesday at Pine Technical and Community College.

President Joe Mulford said the addition will include a welding lab and gunsmithing lab, among other renovations.

"We're going to do some renovation for the automation program, our nursing simulation lab will be expanded, so there's a lot going on with that," he said.

Mulford said Pine Tech’s student housing development at the former Lakeside Nursing Home is also making progress.

Leases are being accepted for the fall at the dormitory-style housing, which is two blocks from the college.

"For students who thought they maybe wanted to go away to college, you can now, and just go twenty miles," Mulford said.

Pine Tech has leased a secondary facility on the property, which used to serve as the Fairview Clinic. That space is being transformed into a recreation center.

Mulford said that with the school's historical high in enrollment, it's "arguably one of the most transformational times" in Pine Tech's history.
