Frederic High School football coach Benjamin Chenal is on leave after he was charged for allegedly sexually assaulting a student.
The charges stem from an incident that happened in June of 2021.
According to the criminal complaint, Chenal allegedly groped the teenage victim while she was working out in the school's weight room.
Chanel is facing felony Sexual Assault of a Student by School Staff charges.
Court records state that he was released from jail on Tuesday, February 1. The terms of his release state that he is not allowed to have contact with the victim of minors under the age of 18 who are not family members, and he is to have no contact with Frederic School District premises.
If convicted, he could face up to six years in prison and/or a $10,000 fine.
