The Hinckley-Finlayson school board unanimously selected two finalists for a second interview for the district's superintendent position after interviewing five candidates on March 30 and 31.
According to a news release from the district, the finalists are Mike McNulty, who currently serves as the director of business operations at Rockford Area Schools, and Drew Goeldner, the chief financial officer at Country Services, Inc.
The follow-up interviews are scheduled to start at 4 p.m. on Thursday, April 2, in the district board room, located at 201 Main Street East in Hinckley.
The interviews are open to the public, but will not be livestreamed or recorded to ensure a level playing field for both candidates.
The Hinckley-Finlayson school board accepted the resignation of Superintendent Brian Masterson — effective June 30, 2026 — at a special meeting in December.
Masterson submitted his formal resignation in a letter to the board on Dec. 19.
He served as the district's superintendent for the past four years, after previously serving as high school principal for 11 years.
