Kanabec County has confirmed its first death due to COVID-19.
The person was described as a resident in their 60's. Their death was confirmed by the Kanabec County Health Department on May 19.
“This is a sad day, as the pandemic has affected our community in a new way,” said Kathy Burski, Kanabec County Community Health Director. “We hoped a COVID-19 related death would not occur in our community; but now that it has, our deepest sympathy goes out to the family and friends of the individual.”
The first case was reported earlier this month, and as of today, there are nine cases of the virus confirmed in Kanabec County.
