Dragons Head Coach Kristin Unverzagt gives us the details on the teams win over Pierz!
The Pine City Dragons had a strong showing with a 5-2 win over Pierz. The girls have been working hard to build their skills and grow their game. This was shown with strong and well played matches across the line up. The team did a good job setting up their points and staying in the points.
Brooke and Alana both had strong wins at 1 and 2 singles. They came ready to play and dictated the points with their strong shot selection. Alyssa Miller battled a third set tie breaker to come back with a strong win. She was patient and did a great job setting up her points. Even though Myra fell short at 4 singles, she worked hard to stay in the point and played well.
Our doubles team had good movvement and closed out points. First and third doubles had decisive wins in two sets and our second doubles battled hard to play it out to three sets. They rallied back to play strong in the third after a tough second set.
The team continues to work hard and has high goals as we contine this season.
It is so fun to see the players grow.
We head to Hibbing on Saturday and will travel to Little Falls next Tuesday to continue our conference play.
