Following the link of Chronic Wasting Disease to an eastern Pine County farm, the Minnesota Board of Animal Health will be holding a town hall meeting in Sandstone.
The discovery was made in December of 2019 at a when the doe in Douglas County tested positive for CWD. The animal was later linked back to Pine County during an investigation by the board.
The meeting will be held on Wednesday, March 18. Its purpose is to present the results following their investigation.
"The investigation and reporting process is still active today and will be completed by the time we hold the town hall," said Communications Director for the MN Board of Animal Health Michael Crusan. "A lot of the research and details are continually evolving during the process, and we want to wait for it to wrap up before addressing the public."
Along with the Board of Animal Health, experts from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, University of Minnesota, and Minnesota Department of Natural Resources will be presenting on their findings.
The meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. on March 18 at the North Pine Government Center in Sandstone.
