MnDOT announces 2026 road construction projects

MnDOT announced its 2026 road construction projects on Tuesday, including multiple that will impact motorists in east-central Minnesota.
The projects include:
Striping and pavement marking along I-35 in Pine County, which is expected to wrap up by May.
Resurfacing and updating over 10 miles of Highway 65, starting between Stanchfield and Cambridge after the Fourth of July. A second segment between Stanchfield to north of Braham will start in spring of 2027. The project is estimated to cost $13 million.

MnDOT graphic Installing a roundabout at the north junction of Highways 27 and 169, north of Onamia, starting this summer. Highway 27 will detour due to project work; Highway 169 will be open with no shoulders through the work zone. Estimated cost: $3.2 million.
Highway 27 will also be reconstructed from east of Chippewa Avenue to east of Fourth Street West in Wahkon; construction is slated to begin in June. Estimated cost: $2.7 million.
Reconstructing and improving Highway 95 between Fern Street and Fillmore Street in Cambridge. Work will begin in mid-April, and be done in three segments over two years. Estimated cost: $18 million.
