Multiple Weekend Crashes Leave One Dead

Multiple weekend crashes on I-35 in Pine County resulted in the death of one man and three people injured.

The first crash happened a mile south of Hinckley on Friday afternoon, where a Mitsubishi Endeavor traveling southbound and crossed the median and struck a Kia Sportage heading north.

The collision killed the driver of the Kia, a 45-year-old man from Garfield MN, and left the driver and passenger of the Mitsubishi in life-threatening condition. They were later taken to hospitals in the Twin Cities via helicopter.

The second crash happened Saturday where a Ford Fusion was traveling southbound on I-35 when it left the roadway at the Hinckley exit. The Fusion went on to strike the guardrail, rollover and came to rest under the overpass to the right of the roadway.

The driver, a 29-year-old Woodbury man, was taken to Essentia Health with non-life-threatening injuries.
