Narcotics investigation results in two Pine County arrests

An ongoing narcotics investigation resulted in the arrest of two suspects in Pine County on Tuesday.


According to a press release, the Aitkin-Itasca-Mille Lacs Violent Crimes Enforcement Team executed search warrants in Pine and St. Louis counties for Nichole Maki.


A Pine County deputy located her vehicle traveling northbound on I-35 and attempted to stop it.


The criminal complaint states that a state trooper was able to get in front of the vehicle and box it in.


The passenger was identified as Meadowlands resident Steven Svoboda.


4.2 pounds of methamphetamines and one pound of marijuana were recovered by authorities.


Maki is charged with felony 1st degree drug sales and possession, with three additional gross misdemeanor offenses.


Additional search warrants were executed at Maki’s residence, where a gun and ammunition were recovered.


Svoboda has been charged with first degree drug possession.
