Lady Dragons tennis HC Kristin Unverzagt gives us an update from their Friday match and Saturday's quad.
The girls tennis team lost a close fought battle but fell short with a 3-4 loss to Foley.
Brooke Boland dominated and dictated her match with a decisive win to gain our team the first point of the match.
Our other singles also battled hard to extend the points. Alyssa Miller played a strong match to come up with a big win at third singles.
The doubles duos battled hard to create close matches, but we could only close with a win at 3rd doubles (Mallory Clepper and Kendall Steele).
Our doubles team can use tonight's match to continue to learn and grow as we work on volley placement and movement.
We play Minnewaska, Wadena-Deer Creek and Staples-Motley in our home quad tomorrow.
We also have a busy week next week as we head to Princeton on Monday, host Pequot Lakes on Tuesday, and Pierz on Thursday. We also head to Hibbing next weekend. It is going to be fun to see the team grow as we roll into a busy week ahead!

We hosted our annual quad this year with Minnewaska, Wadena-Deer Creek, and Staples-Motley. Unfortunately, we were rained out halfway through the second match against Minnewaska.
We started our morning with a strong win over a great Staples-Motley team. Brooke Boland had a strong match against a state ranked player at one singles. She moved the ball well and played solid, setting herself up with a great win! Alana Linnell at 2 singles and Alyssa Miller at 3 singles, fell short but played well. They battled hard and were in the match until the end. Myra Roubinek had a solid start to the day with her great shot selection. Our doubles duos all had a strong start with smart net play. We continue to improve where to place the ball and set ourselves up for great points. Our doubles teams work well together and continue to improve their shot selection, serves, returns, and net game. It is fun to see them grow each match!
We started our second match strong with Minnewaska but did not have a chance to finish. Brooke Boland and Alana Linnell were off to a strong start in their matches. Our third (Alyssa Miller) and fourth singles (Myra Roubinek) matches finished with two tough losses. Our third doubles team (Mallory Clepper and Kendall Steele) had a win and played smart doubles with a score of 6-4, 6-2. Our first (Vivian Lahti/Kate Unverzagt) and second doubles (Lily Rootkie/Brecklyn Nicoll) were up in their matches when it started to rain both earning the first set win. Lahti/Unverzagt had aggressive net play and brought the energy. Nicoll/Rootkie moved the ball well and were patient to set up the points. We are going to try and find a date to finish, but with conference schedules, it may be a challenge.
We head to Princeton on Monday and host Pequot Lakes on Tuesday.
