Pine City Wins Semi Final Match Over Crosby-Ironton

Lady Dragons tennis Head Coach Kristin Unverzagt tells us about the playoff win against Crosby-Ironton.

The Dragon ladies closed out strong with a 6-1 win over Crosby-Ironton! We are so proud of each player as they had to battle and focus, come ready to play and close out! Brooke Boland at first singles played a tough Crosby-Ironton player and battled hard despite the loss. At second singles, Allison Unverzagt came back to win the second set and close out the match after being down 1-4. Lena Roubinek continued to battle hard and broke her opponent's serve to close out the first set and roll strong into the second set. Lily Struss is a force at 4th singles with her placement and game plan. Our doubles duo of Mikyska/Youngbauer dominated the match from the beginning by getting to every ball and being aggressive at the net. Linnell/Valvoda had a rough start, but closed out strong to win 6 games in a row after starting down 3-0 in the first set. Our third doubles duo of Lahti/Unverzagt improved as the match went on to close out and dominate in the second set.

We are so proud of this team for their grit and determination! We look forward to seeing what we can accomplish in the section finals. The girls have the potential to do well! They are amazing!

We will advance to the section finals in Sartell at the Sta-Fit Club and will play the winner of tonight's Foley vs. Pequot Lakes match. The match will begin at 11AM.
