Rush City Volleyball Moves One Game Closer to State

Rush City faced off against Internationals Falls on Wednesday in the section semi final.

The Tigers have been dominant all year long and looked to continue that against the Broncos. As the first set began I. Falls proved that they were gonna make it tough for Rush City to pull away. Early on it was a battle between both teams, it seemed as if this one may be heading for extra sets. But the Tigers turned the tide quickly on the Broncos and started to show that dominance. Rush City took a lead and never looked back winning the 1st set 25-11. The 2nd set was vastly different than the 1st. Rush City came out swinging and took it to the Broncos and ran away with the set win 25-9.

The 3rd set however seen momentum shift sides. As the Tigers looked to be easily running away with the match, I. Falls was not ready for their season to be over. The Broncos either held the lead or kept the lead within one or two points for much of the set. There were times where they had a 4 points lead of the Tigers. But instead of panicking, or calling a timeout and changing things, Eric Telander, Tigers head coach, let his team play through the adversity they were facing. And it lead to the outcome they hoped for. After seeing momentum ripped away from them and trailing, Rush City was able to regroup on the fly and swing things back in their favor. They were able to retake the lead and eventually come away with the set win 25-19, and won the match 3-0.

The Tigers advance to the section championship game on Saturday! They will play against Esko in the championship game at Hermantown at 6PM.
