Suspicious Device Causes Hazelden to be Evacuated Saturday Evening

From the Chisago County Sheriff's Office:


On 01/29/2022 at 1745 hours, the Chisago County Emergency Communications

Center received a call of a suspicious device at the Hazelden Betty Ford

Foundation in Center City, Minnesota. The Chisago County Sheriff’s Office was

dispatched, and ultimately a portion of one building was evacuated. The St. Paul

Police Department Bomb Squad was requested for assistance with the device. A

suspicious device was located and removed by Bomb Squad personnel.


The device was determined to be inert. A person of interest has been identified

and law enforcement is in contact with this person. There are no reported injuries

as a result of this incident. There is believed to be no threat to the public. This

investigation is ongoing and no further information will be released at this time.


Assisting agencies include the Center City Fire Department, Lakes Region EMS,

and the St. Paul Police Department Bomb Squad.
