Teen Injured Following 30-Foot Fall in Interstate Park

The condition of a 19-year-old is still unknown following a 30-foot fall in Interstate Park near Taylors Falls.

Responders were called to the area of Milltown Rd and US Highway 8 in Chisago County on 5:30 p.m. Sunday after receiving a call that Luke Lawerence Zajac had fallen from a rock cliff and was unresponsive.

According to a press release from the Chisago County Sheriff's Office, the caller did not know their location, causing responders to use squad sirens to narrow down the caller and victim's location. Emergency personal navigated what is described as "extreme terrain" to reach Zajac by foot and render aid.

Zajac was then transported by North Air Care to a level 1 trauma center for further care.

The Chisago County Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Taylors Falls Fire Department, St. Croix Falls Fire Department, Lakes Region EMS, and the Minnesota DNR.
