Victim of Former Chisago Co. Sheriff Awarded over $1 Million in Sexual Harassment Lawsuit by Jury

The victim of former Chisago County Sheriff Richard Duncan has been awarded over $1 million by a jury in her sexual harassment lawsuit.

Duncan was charged and later convicted of Misconduct of a Public Officer for sending threatening letters to Michelle Jacobson, who worked for the Chisago County Sheriff's Office, in 2017 under the pseudonym "Control Freak" to try and coerce her into having sex with him.

KSTP said that Duncan later admitted to creating the plot so he could solve it and be the hero.

Jacobson filed a sexual harassment lawsuit against Duncan and Chisago County in August of 2018.

According to court documents filed on Monday, March 7, the federal jury awarded Jacobson $565,000 for mental anguish and an additional $550,000 in punitive damages for Duncan's threats, stalking, and harassment of Jacobson.
