Winter storm warning to take effect in Pine County

A winter storm warning will take effect in Pine County starting at 4 p.m. on Friday until 1 a.m. Sunday, according to the National Weather Service.

According to the alert, heavy mixed precipitation is expected, with total snow and sleet accumulations between 1 and 3 inches.

Ice is also anticipated to accumulate between one-tenth and one-quarter of an inch. The NWS cautions that the majority of ice accumulation will be on Friday night.

The National Weather Service warns that power outages and tree damage are likely due to the ice, and travel conditions could be hazardous.

A winter weather advisory is in effect for Kanabec, Chisago, Mille Lacs, and Isanti counties between 4 p.m. Friday and 10 p.m. Saturday.
