Park Naturalist at Pine County History Museum

The Pine County History Museum is hosting a special event on national get outdoors day on Saturday.

The Museum is hosting Park Naturalist and Speaker Megan Johnsen who will be speaking on the Civilian Conservation Corp, Veterans Conservation Corp, and Works Progress Administration.

The Civilian Conservation Corp built many of the state parks across the United States, including those in Minnesota.

Johnsen mentioned a huge part of understanding and appreciating the history behind these places and events is being present where they happened and where the buildings still stand.

Johnsen will be speaking at the Pine County History Museum this Saturday, June 10th at 10 am.

This Saturday is national get outdoors day.

Minnesota is doing its part in the celebration by offering free admission into all state parks.

Those looking for a challenge should join other paddlers in splitting up and traversing the entire length of the Minnesota River in one day, spanning 318 miles.

There’s a state park located only 30 miles from the average Minnesotan.

Some of the parks in East Central Minnesota include Banning in Sandstone and St. Croix State Park in Hinckley.

Community Education in Pine City

Pine City is offering a variety of programs and activities for kids who just finished their school year.

Community Education in Pine City offers swimming lessons, events at the city library, and summer arts program.

Crex Meadows Photo Club

Those looking for another chance to get outdoors this weekend should head to Crex Meadows Wildlife Center in Grantsburg.

This Saturday Crex Meadows Wildlife Center will play host to photographer John Menge and others as they teach more about digital photography.

The event is from 10 to 11 am.
