Harris Shooting BCA Report: 7 Officers Fired on Carjacking Suspect; Suspect ID'd

The Bureau of Criminal Investigations has released info on Monday’s officer-involved shooting in North Branch.

The suspect has been identified as Gregory Shawn Thrower age 39 of Kinston, North Carolina.

The report also says that seven officers fired their weapons when Thrower emerged from an area of tall reeds and pointed a gun at officers.

Those officers have been placed on administrative leave, as is routine in officer involved shootings.

Thrower’s 7 year old daughter located unharmed in the stolen car 30 feet away.

National Night Out in Pine City

An event that brings the community together to create a safer environment is right around the corner.

National Night Out is a community and police awareness-raising event held the first Tuesday in August.

Pine County Chief Deputy Paul Widenstrom says it’s a great chance to meet those who live in your area.

You can also get an up-close look at a squad car, police equipment, and both K9 units in Pine County will be out and about at different National Night Out events as well.

National Night Out in Pine City is Tuesday, August 1st at Robinson Park, starting at 7 pm.

Guilty Verdict

A felony jury trial in Pine County recently secured a positive verdict.

After deliberating only 12 minutes, the jury found Martin Ray Nelson guilty of a felony Violation of an Order for Protection.

Nelson has prior assault convictions and is on probation for another felony violation as well.

Meals to Rush City Students

Chisago County is rolling out new ideas to combat youth hunger.

They’re in talks to partner with the district to begin a backpack program, where students on reduced or free lunch can pick up meals on Friday to take home for the weekend during the school year.

The idea expands for the summer, where an entire weeks’ worth of food could be picked up at once.

Roubinek Motors Car Show

A brand new car show is this weekend in Pine City.

The 1st annual classic car and truck show hosted by Roubinek Motors is Saturday.

Registration begins at 8:30 in the morning and will be held at the A&W in Pine City.
