Hunting and Recreational Land Added in Pine County
The Department of Natural Resources has expanded wildlife management areas in Pine County.
Wildlife management areas provide recreation for hunters and trappers, including small game, big game and waterfowl.
They also give places to watch upland birds, waterfowl, mammals, and more.
The expanded areas are on the south end of Pokegama Lake on the other side of Highway 7, and in Rutledge between Finlayson and Willow River.
Pine City Football Military Appreciation Night
In addition to beginning their season, the Pine City High School football team is offering free admission to those who deserve it most.
On this Thursday’s home opener football game against Rush City, Pine City is hosting military appreciation night for past and present military personnel, who will get into the game for free.
Composite Site in Pine City Shifting to Fall Schedule
As summer transitions to fall, the compost site in Pine City will be shifting into a new schedule.
Starting September 2nd and running through November, the site will be open Wednesdays from 2-5 pm and Saturdays from 9 am to 3.
The city also reminds residents that no commercial haulers will be accepted.
Man and Woman Stabbed in Pine City
A stabbing occurred Saturday morning in Pine City that left a man and woman with injuries.
Just before 8 am on August 26th, there was a report of a woman who was bleeding near the county road 11 and interstate 35 interchange.
Also on the scene was a man who’d been stabbed once, and both were eventually airlifted to the Twin Cities for treatment, with the female’s injuries being more severe.
Witness reports state that the male was seen stabbing the female.
The male in the case is being held at the Pine County Jail and is awaiting charges.
